[wish-info] Upgrading to Mandrake 10 breaks wish 1.6.10, ouch

You've heard the phrase "leave well enough alone", right?

I never can. After getting wish 1.6.10 working perfectly with my Mandrake
9.2 install (2.4.22 kernel), I lost my mind temporarily and decided to
upgrade to the just-released Mandrake 10 (2.6.3 kernel).

I was sane enough to realize that I needed to recompile and reinstall
wish. But it will no longer compile. Several of the things that the
Makefile expect to be in the kernel source directory are no longer there
(mkdep, modversions.h, etc.)

Does anyone have a solution?

The 1.x series will not work under the 2.6 kernel. The 2.6 kernel changes
how the devices work, how modules work, how makefiles work, and USB works,
and even how the Line Discipline works with relation to the x10 drivers.

I did try to find an easy solution to making the drivers work with 2.6 but
could not and started on version 2.0 of the drivers. However, kernel 2.6
continues to change significantly with each release and the drivers have
proven to be unstable under other distributions so they are not ready for
prime time or even alpha test.
