About 3 months ago, Lightning struck a direct hit on my home, killing my
brand new AMD dual-core 4800 computer, Plasma Screen TV, and pretty much all
of my X10 equipment that were connected to the power lines..... (and a VERY
bad time was had by all !)
Now, I have (had) a Smarthome Templinc device that was also killed. I have
since replaced it. But lo & behold, the sensor that was attached to the old
unit works FINE (believe it or not). (Swapped it out with the new one). That
tells me that it's the 1132B that controls the signals is dead. Now, I have
two questions :
Is this 1132B that is part of the TempLinc unit the SAME as this one ?

The reason I ask, the listed $33.99 price is a LOT less than the price for
the Templinc product at $59.99
I wasn't sure, given the serial interface...
Second, I also understand from that web site that the 1132B is a "drop-in"
replacement for the X10-TW523 (a unit that I DO have in my "spare parts"
drawer) ....
I also realize from this site :

that the X10-TW523 and the 1132B need to be "rewired", as the output/input
serial interface are a bit different :
Powerlinc 1132B has two main characteristics :
It could be used as a X10 ASCII controller. ASCII command are specific to
the controller and not compatible with CM11. Main limitation is the fact
that no application (except the demo one) or device driver is available (no
support for Homeseer).
It could be used as a replacement for PSC05 or TW523 controllers. You should
take care that 1132B is not plug to plug compatible, you should reverse (not
cross) the RJ11 pin layout taking in count that only the 4 center wires are
used. Easiest way is to use a 6 or 8 female to female coupler as adaptor
(see explanation).
Shifting from one mode to the other is automatic and doesn't require any
jumper or command seting.
I guess what I am asking is....does the Smarthome Templinc require the
"extended x10" codes that the X10-TW523 does not provide, but the Smarthome
1132B DOES, rendering the x10-TW523 useless in this project ?
