[wish-info] CM11 USB & Wish (or: FAQ requested...)

Hello,

In the next few weeks, I'll probably buy myself an X10 system. I'm
thinking about a basic starter-kit which contains some on/off switches,
a remote and a CM11 (USB) PC interface.

At first I'll be using it on a windows machine, just to get to know it,
but it will probably be connected to a Linux (Debian Sarge with kernel
2.6.11-something) server in the future.

I'm not sure yet if the CM11 USB-version will function on a Linux
machine. I can find a lot of information about the CM11A serial version,
but hardly anything on the USB version.

In the archives of this list, I found two posts that I thought might be
interesting:
- one post mentioning a FAQ and something about an USB-patch needed for
USB-devices on a pre-2.6.7 kernel;
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=5191702&forum_id=22965

- another post mentioning that kernel 2.6.3 contains the USB patch which
should make Wish work with the Powerlinc-USB. I'm not familiar with the
Powerlinc-USB - is it comparible with the CM11-USB version?

So, two questions:
1) Where can I find the FAQ?
2) Anyone out there who can confirm that the CM11 USB version works with
Wish on kernel 2.6.11?

Thanks,
Matthijs

I have had one person report that they connected a USB CM11 to their machine
and it worked with the x10dev drivers. As for the patches for USB, any of
the 2.6.7 or above kernels has the correct USB API for the x10dev drivers to
work.

I haven't tested at all with USB CM11 so I cannot vouch for the success
email that I received, but there is probably some hope that it will work.
